Conversion

This tank was originally a planted apisto tank, when I obtained my group of Firemouth cichlids, i converted it over to a more suitable tank that would be more suited to the Firemouths. This tank still has a lot of filling in to do at this point in time but will look great once its at its prime. At this point in time I'm working on obtaining more sword plants and similar plants. Due to the digging habits of the Firemouths, and the plant crushing abilities of the plecos I am making this tank dominated by swords and similar plants. So far it contains E. amazonicus, E. 'kleiner bar', and E. osiris. Similar plants include a single Cryptocoryne wendtii. Along with the 2 pairs of Firemouths I plan to have, I also plan to keep some of my fancier species of plecos and maybe attempt to obtain one of the smaller Geophagus species.

Here are the very basics of the tank:

Tank: 55 gallon 48 x 12 x 20
Filtration/Circulation: Whisper 40 and Maxijet 900.
Fauna: Mykrogeophagus altispinosus, Thorichthys meeki, Ancistrus sp., Baryancistrus sp. (L66), Hemiancistrus sp. (L200).
Flora: Echinodorus Amazonicus, E. osiris, E. sp. 'Kleiner bar', E. tenellus, Cryptocoryne wendtii, Limnophila aromatica, Hygrophila balsamica, Micranthemum umbrosum, Hemianthus micranthemoides, Ludwigia palustris, Nymphoides sp. 'Taiwan', Microsorum pteropus, Myriophyllum aquaticum, Tonina sp. 'belem', T. fluviatilis, Anubias nana, Sagittaria subulata, Glossostigma elatinoides, Eleocharis acicularis.

Here are some photos from before and after the rescape:
